Reports that “Global Warming” can cause soil to release carbon, accelerating and increasing the amount of warming appears to cause Europe to push for even stronger measures and wider acceptance of the Kyoto protocol.[1] They now even go so far as to say that Kyoto might be insufficient, and even more harmful cutbacks are necessary. My own take on this differs. If the carbon released from English soil overshadows all of the cuts England has made, why should it be different here? My prediction remains that we will find that it is too late to stop global warming, and that our efforts are better spent learning how to cope with its inevitable effects.

It seems that judges can only declare things unconstitutional when liberals approve. In Spain, “liberal” lawmakers are pushing to have judges who are challenging the constitutionality of a Spanish law authorizing homosexual “marriages” punished.[1] Apparently having an independent judiciary is either unknown there, or less important than being all “progressive.”

The argument being made is interesting. Apparently only where the right to marry is defined in the constitution are the two sexes independently specified. The Judge is saying that this, along with the fact that “heterosexuality is the substantial and identifying element of the institution of marriage,” creates a Constitutional requirement that the couple be heterosexual. I hope he prevails.
